Is VR the next big thing after smartphone technology?

On 28th, October 2021 Facebook changed its name to meta, And in the event, the company announced "Metaverse" a virtual space where humans can interact with others like never before with their wireless VR goggles. 

First, We had codes to communicate with the people who lived away, through a line using electrical signals.

 Then we used audio to communicate with people far away with the telephones connected to the specific operator who will connect the person in the other end.

And then we started using phones and towers which can do the work of an operator, Making the communication process by voice easy, wireless and a lot better than any other previous-gen ways.

And now we use personal and group video calls more than ever to speak and look at the expression of the people we are interacting with, And we do all this with our handheld devices which can be used anywhere.

So, The question is, what next?

From all the above technologies and the way we use them, one thing is clear, That is the increase in information which we perceive by our senses and the immersion we feel, making it as close to the interaction we feel in the real world.

Virtual Reality:

For the small group of people who are not aware of this concept, It is basically two screens in front of your eyes that simulate a virtual world and combined with the audio synchronized give it a fake sense of a new world.

So, This way of interacting with the world, where everything and anything can be modified is inevitably gonna happen someday, This can be concluded by the pattern of how the previous technology and gadgets involved which we discussed above.

And VR is been in this world for over a decade to play fully immersed first-person shooting and fighting games, But now after Facebook announced the metaverse concept, people are thrilled to experience the world like never before.

And there is a strong possibility that this could be the next social media evolution after Instagram and all the other platforms.

Pros of Metaverse:

👉 The interaction between people will be on a whole new level.

👉 There will be an entirely new industry.

👉 There will be thousands of new jobs.

👉 Unlike the real world, the developers can add anything anywhere, doesn't matter how ridiculous it is, and make people experience things that exist only in sci-fi movies.

👉 Make people view and feel different places anywhere in the world without leaving the room.

👉 Travelling will be almost like teleportation.

Cons of Metaverse:

When social media became fully AI-powered people became a lot more insecure about the way they look, This is mainly because of the fact that nobody wants to show their bad sides and only tend to show the beautiful side of their lives because of obvious reasons.

And this way everybody started living in a FAKE reality where only good or beautiful side exists, But in the real world, both beautiful and ugly sides exist and to conclude or judge anybody or anything you need to see both good and bad side of a person or community. 

And AI powering these multi-million dollar corporations are made in a way that it only shows the content which supports your opinion about someone or something, so because of this reason people became a lot more narrow-minded.

And this (In my opinion) is the reason why Twitter became a toxic place filled with narrow-minded people trying to throw people under the bus just to defend their opinions.

And the AI powering the metaverse is definitely going to be a lot smarter than what we have now, and because of this reason, the intensity of all the above cons by the social media which exists now is going to be significantly higher.
